Kobe Bryant Bio
Kobe Bean Bryant (born August 23, 1978) is an American retired professional basketball player. He played his entire 20-year career with the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He entered the NBA directly from high school and won five NBA championships with the Lakers. Bryant is an 18-time All-Star, 15-time member of the All-NBA Team, and 12-time member of the All-Defensive team. He led the NBA in scoring during two seasons, and ranks third on both the league’s all-time regular season scoring and all-time postseason scoring lists. He holds the NBA record for the most seasons playing with one franchise for an entire career.
The son of former NBA player Joe Bryant, Kobe Bryant enjoyed a successful high school basketball career at Lower Merion High School in Pennsylvania, where he was recognized as the top high school basketball player in the country. He declared for the NBA draft upon graduation, and was selected with the 13th overall pick in the 1996 NBA draft by the Charlotte Hornets, who traded him to the Los Angeles Lakers. As a rookie, Bryant earned himself a reputation as a high-flyer and a fan favorite by winning the 1997 Slam Dunk Contest, and he was named an All-Star by his second season. Despite a feud between them, Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal led the Lakers to three consecutive championships from 2000 to 2002.
In 2003, Bryant was accused of sexual assault in Colorado, but the charges were eventually dropped, and a civil suit was settled out of court. After the Lakers lost the 2004 NBA Finals, O’Neal was traded to the Miami Heat. Bryant became the cornerstone of the Lakers, and he led the NBA in scoring during the 2005–06 and 2006–07 seasons. In 2006, he scored a career-high 81 points against the Toronto Raptors, the second most points scored in a single game in league history behind Wilt Chamberlain’s 100-point game in 1962. Bryant was awarded the regular season’s Most Valuable Player Award (MVP) in 2008. After losing in the 2008 NBA Finals, he led the Lakers to two consecutive championships in 2009 and 2010, earning the Finals MVP Award on both occasions. He continued to be among the top players in the league through 2013, when the 34-year-old Bryant suffered a torn Achilles tendon. Although he recovered, his play was limited the following two years by season-ending injuries to his knee and shoulder, respectively. Citing his physical decline, he announced that he would be retiring after the 2015–16 season.
At 34 years and 104 days of age, Bryant became the youngest player in league history to reach 30,000 career points. He is also the all-time leading scorer in Lakers franchise history. Following his second year in the league, Bryant was chosen to start every All-Star Game until his retirement for a record 18 consecutive appearances, and his four All-Star MVP Awards are tied for the most in NBA history. At the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics, he won gold medals as a member of the U.S. national team. Sporting News and TNT named Bryant the top NBA player of the 2000s.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was 90 years old this week. That makes her the longest reigning monarch in the UK and possibly the world.
Elizabeth II (Elizabeth Alexandra Mary; born 21 April 1926) is, and has been since her accession in 1952, Queen of the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, and Head of the Commonwealth. She is also Queen of 12 countries that have become independent since her accession: Jamaica, Barbados, the Bahamas, Grenada, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Belize, Antigua and Barbuda, and Saint Kitts and Nevis.
Elizabeth was born in London to the Duke and Duchess of York, later King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, and was the elder of their two daughters. She was educated privately at home. Her father acceded to the throne on the abdication of his brother Edward VIII in 1936, from which time she was the heir presumptive. She began to undertake public duties during World War II, serving in the Auxiliary Territorial Service. In 1947, she married Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, with whom she has four children: Charles, Anne, Andrew, and Edward.

Background on Game of Thrones –
The sixth season of the fantasy drama television series Game of Thrones was ordered by HBO on April 8, 2014, together with the fifth season, and is scheduled to premiere on April 24, 2016. In contrast to the previous seasons, it largely consists of original content not found in George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series, but also adapts material from the upcoming sixth novel in the series, The Winds of Winter, as well as some content from the fourth and fifth novels, A Feast for Crows and A Dance with Dragons.
Beyond the wall, Bran Stark has been training with the Three-Eyed Raven, having last appeared in the season four finale episode “The Children”. According to an interview conducted with Isaac Hempstead Wright about Bran’s plot line in season six, the training largely expands his previous ability to see into the past and future, and allow him more control to piece things together. He also discovers his role in the wars to come.
Near the Dothraki Sea, after being surrounded by the khalasar of Khal Jhaqo, Daenerys Targaryen is taken captive and discovers that the Dothraki have certain traditions for widows of fallen Khals. In an interview with Emilia Clarke, she stated of Daenerys’s plot line, “She’s learning the last lesson she needs to learn. There’s just few remnants of being a human being she’s shaking off.”
In King’s Landing, Jaime Lannister has returned to Cersei Lannister with the body of their daughter Myrcella, and the two must work together to overcome the rising influence of the Faith Militant and the High Sparrow.
In Meereen, Tyrion Lannister, accompanied by Varys, Grey Worm, and Missandei, will strive to keep order and manage the city using “Westeros-style politics” to prevent it from falling into chaos following the departure of Daenerys.
At Winterfell, Ramsay Bolton and his forces are in pursuit of Sansa Stark and Theon Greyjoy, following their escape at the end of the last season.
The Best Goalkeepers In The World – With the end of the football season fast approaching, there are important positions to be secured in hundreds of leagues around the world. There is also Euro 2016 approaching with players competing to make their national sides, and as always there will be WINNERS and LOSERS, MOVERS and SHAKERS over the summer before the next season starts.
Share your views in our quiz to select our Best Goalkeepers in the World. To be the Best Goalkeeper in the World is no easy task, what do you think of these as potential candidates –
– Keylor Navas
Four months is a long time in football. Back in August, Real Madrid fans were cursing their luck when a deal to sign David de Gea fell through; now, most of them are probably grateful the move didn’t come to fruition. Navas has stepped up to the plate tremendously well this term, often pulling off some outrageous saves to prevent Rafael Benitez from coming under even more pressure.
– Petr Cech
Never has a signing felt as obvious as Arsenal’s acquisition of Cech in the summer. The experienced gloveman found playing time hard to come by at Chelsea last season, but he’s provided everything Gunners supporters were hoping for this term: assuredness, leadership and downright good goalkeeping.
– Gianluigi Buffon
Like a fine Italian wine, the evergreen Buffon seems to get better with age. Honing in on his 38th birthday, Juventus and Italy’s No.1 still possesses sharp reflexes and a useful penchant for a clean sheet or two. Captained Juve to a domestic double and the Champions League final in 2014/15.
– Thibaut Courtois
It’s often said that foreign goalkeepers require a bedding-in period to adjust to the physicality of the Premier League, but Courtois looked confident in his new environment from the first minute of his debut in August 2014. He’s got even better since then, dominating his penalty area by catching crosses – punchers take note – and stopping plenty of shots that he has no right to stop.
– David de Gea
Manchester United fans probably haven’t been enjoying 2015/16 too much, but the first half of the season could have been even worse were it not for Real Madrid’s dodgy fax machine. A paperwork problem saw De Gea stay put at Old Trafford this summer, with his exploits between the sticks contributing greatly to United’s excellent defensive record.
– Manuel Neuer
Calling Neuer a goalkeeper does not really tell the whole story. The Bayern Munich shot-stopper has taken the role of sweeper-keeper to another level, with the 29-year-old regularly spotted closer to the halfway line than his own penalty box. He does do some excellent work in more conventional areas, though, and is well-deserving of his place in the overall top 10.

The club was founded in 1884 as Leicester Fosse, playing on a field near Fosse Road. The name Leicester City was adopted in 1919.
They moved to Filbert Street in 1891 and played there for 111 years, before moving to the nearby Walkers Stadium in 2002. They renamed the stadium the King Power Stadium after a change of ownership in 2011.
